Pause For a Cause Gala

Paws for Patrick hosted their first annual Paws for a Cause Gala at the Writers Theatre in Glencoe, Illinois on Friday, April 14th, and raised nearly $300,000 to support their mission to connect young people living with mental illness with Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) and Therapy Dogs. The event was sold out with 250 attendees, greeted at the entrance by Paws for Patrick’s Therapy Dog teams dressed in their finest. The Gala featured a silent auction, live auction, and paddle raise, and was capped off with a musical performance by Sean Kelly and The Samples.

Paws for Patrick has connected with over 300 clients seeking ESA’s, or training for their animal, in 30 plus states since its founding in 2020. Utilizing their unique Wish Granter program, the goal is to take the burden, and financial expenses, off the client and their families when they choose to add the unconditional love of an animal to their lives. The Therapy Dog program has grown from eight teams to 25 and has reached thousands of children and young adults in settings such as schools, therapy sessions, youth organizations, and more.

Paws for Patrick is a 501c3 organization dedicated to connecting young people with Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) & Therapy Dogs to aid them as they live with mental illness. Utilizing their unique Wish Granter & Therapy Dog programs, they provide the funds and resources to bring the love of animals to the people who need it most. The organization was founded by the Roemer family of Lake Forest in memory of their son Patrick who lived with depression and anxiety for most of his young life.
